The Board

About The Board

The Board tracks professional roster transactions — signings, waivers, claims, trades, reserve designations and releases — and organizes them by day, team, and player.

Sources

Transaction records are compiled from publicly reported league transaction listings. The current month is collected once daily; the archive back to January 2020 was collected from the same listings in a single pass. Only factual details are recorded: date, player, team, and transaction type.

Player biographical details are adapted from datasets published by the nflverse project under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/); we select and reformat them. nflverse compiles them from upstream sources. Draft data and snap counts originate with Pro Football Reference (Sports Reference). We are not affiliated with nflverse or Sports Reference, and neither endorses this site.

Independence

The Board is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Football League, any NFL club, or any league partner. Team names and other marks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only.

Accuracy

Records are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Transactions can be reported late, amended, or corrected at the source, and our records may lag or differ. Only recent weeks are re-checked each day, so a correction made at the source to an older month may not be reflected here. Do not rely on this site for wagering, contractual, or financial decisions.

Coverage

The record runs from January 2020 and is updated daily. It includes only what the public league listings report, and those listings are known to be incomplete:

  • Offseason signings of undrafted rookies and futures contracts are largely missing. The listings stopped carrying most undrafted-rookie signings in 2025 and nearly all of them in 2026, and they have never listed futures contracts. Many such players first appear here when they are released.
  • Some in-season practice-squad signings are missing. In a two-week sample from September 2026, measured against weekly team rosters, about 84% of players who joined a club during the season had a matching transaction here; nearly all of the rest were practice-squad signings.
  • Releases, waiver claims, trades and reserve-list moves appeared complete in the same sample.

The Board is a record of reported transactions, not a roster. A player's presence or absence here does not establish whether that player is on a team. We never fill gaps with guessed transactions; if you know of a move that is missing, tell us below.

Summaries

Written summaries are generated automatically. All figures in them are computed directly from the underlying records; the connecting prose is produced with the help of an AI model.

Significant moves

A ◆ marks roughly the top two percent of moves. It is computed from facts as they stood on the day of the move: where the player was drafted (counting for less each season since), his share of his team's snaps in the better of his last two seasons, his years in the league, whether he was on the active roster or the practice squad, how long he had been with the club, and the kind of move. Each is compared with moves by players at the same position the season before, and the result is weighted by how much the position typically matters: quarterbacks most; kickers, punters and long snappers least, so their moves are never marked. A retirement is always marked if the player took at least half of his team's snaps in either of those two seasons. Any move by a quarterback who took at least 80% of his team's snaps in either of those seasons is marked, except a practice-squad signing. A player shows at most one ◆ in any seven days, on the biggest move of the stretch. A move is never marked when we lack the player's draft status or experience. The marker changes how a row looks, never where it sits.

Privacy

The Board has no accounts and collects no personal information. Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics: a small script from Cloudflare records each page's address, the referring site, your browser and operating system versions, and how quickly the page loaded, and sends them back to this site. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and Cloudflare says it does not use this data to track individual visitors. No other third-party scripts run on this site.
